Complete Dentures vs. Partial Dentures
Complete dentures are used when you need a replacement for all your teeth and come in 2 types—conventional and immediate. Conventional dentures are placed about 8–12 weeks after all teeth have been extracted, whereas immediate dentures are placed right away but require more adjustments as gums and bones shrink over time.
Partial dentures replace only a few missing teeth. The partial denture is held in place by a couple of clasps that fit onto the surrounding teeth. The clasps securely hold the partial denture in place.
Depending on your oral health, your dentist can assess your teeth and gums to determine what type of dentures meets your needs.Book Appointment
Proper Denture Care
Just like your natural teeth, dentures can still have plaque and tartar buildup that can spread to your natural teeth and gums. To avoid negatively impacting your oral health, it’s important to:
- Rinse off food particles from your dentures
- Use denture cleaner and a soft toothbrush to scrub off bacteria
- Soak your dentures in a cup of warm water overnight
